Plenty! It's been a long time since my child was PB3, is it a big group this year?

I think it doesn't get a separate audition because the dance doesn't need a special skill - leaps or gymnastics etc.
It's a cute fun role. They get to be on stage during the battle scene and get to do a little bit of acting with Clara.
Ohhh okay! I thought maybe they selected certain dancers to audition for it. Good to know that there are roles available outside of what they do during the audition!

My poor DD gets it stuck in her head that she only gets the "bad parts for kids who can't dance"
It's always a blow for her to find out she is not a coveted party girl, but always has fun none the less

Spin- off question: Does anyone know how many dancers are in 4A this year? It seems like a huge class.
So huge! I wonder if it's from Kirov closing?
Yes the head of the upper division told us that was a part of the reason why the classes are huge.
I'm a little surprised they didn't cap the class.

It was the same with my DD, she's level 4 now and finally gave up hope for Party Girl role. I don't think it's a particularly skilled role, it's shared with a lot of young kids... I think it's because the role casts the same girls year after year it gives off the optics that they're too good for the other roles. I still don't understand why they couldn't switch it up every year with other talented dancers. But not my show. Not my morale problem anymore now that my DD has finally let that role go. Now she's dying to be a clown. That one I think she has a fair shot at! Whew!
It always cracks me up, because MOST of the roles for the younger kids - party girls included - are not really difficult roles to dance. But for whatever reason - I assume its the pretty little dresses, they all want to be party girls.
