Probably non-child-related “light housekeeping” and/or prepping or cooking family dinners.

Doing the child’s laundry is part of a nanny’s job.

Not really. Do you really want your nanny in the laundry room while the baby is in the living room? Or folding clothes and ignoring the baby? You can't reliably do all the laundry while the baby naps. If you have a lot of really dirty laundry then I think it's reasonable to ask the nanny to throw a load in before she goes - like poopy stuff or spit up rags or really messy clothes when they start solids.

Once I ended an interview early due to a candidate’s evasive answer to a standard question. Why waste anyone’s time if you know already it will not work out?

I bet this post was made up because the OP never came back to respond to the answers.

People do not waste your time.

Probably asked the nanny the walk the dog and pick up the crap.

Now that the OP knows what the deal-breaker is, she can eliminate it from the job description or tell the prospective nanny ahead of time she will pay more because the job includes X.

It probably wasn't one thing, OP. It was probably several things and the last one was the thing that made her realize she’d rather risk an awkward departure than stay five more minutes.

What was the deal breaker? Let us opine on it.
