I think the study is silly, but the West region denotes what people in that region view as the most trusted schools, not in what region those schools are in.
Still think that those polled thought Howard is located in Washington state. Really makes no sense otherwise.
Yes, it does make sense. Check out that map again -- you think THAT many people in the Midwest believe that Stanford and/or Duke is in the Midwest? Of course not.
I think that you misunderstand the point. Washington state has a name similar to Washington DC.
Stanford and Duke are well known throughout the country. Howard is not.
