My turn for a rewatch. The first episode is perfection. Perfect deployment of "In the Air Tonight" and the last scene of Stan searching the trunk of the car while Philip stands in the dark with a gun in his hands, safety off, so perfectly sets up the entire arc of the show. Maybe one of the best premier episodes of all time.
Not sure what made me turn it on tonight. I'm actually incredibly stressed at the moment in pretty much every aspect of my life and I was actually looking for something Great British Bakeoff level of soothing. But I couldn't find it and this called out to me. No regrets.

My favorite part about this storyline is that it truly doesn't matter. He planted the seed and after all that Stan went through, living with that seed planted is going to affect him greatly.
The sad thing is that Philip was trying to do Stan a favor.

The actress was bad. My other (admittedly a nit) was that Kerry Russell was rarely ever wearing 80s clothing or hair. Only when she was in disguise, but as "Elizabeth" she was not. As someone who graduated from high school and college and grad school in the 80s, I am pretty familiar with the fashion beyond the exaggerated stuff you tend to see. Most of the other characters looked very 80s. Made me think that either Kerry Russell didn't want to look unattractive, or someone else didn't want her to.
She dressed a lot like my mom did in the 80s—especially the boots with long skirts. Cashmere cowl neck sweaters and silk blouses with slacks. This is what UMC/classy working moms in the DMV wore.

Rewatching the finale, all I could think of was how dangerous Paige was to them getting away!
She was definitely not spy paternal and would have sung like a canary if caughtZ
She made them stop to call Henry and then never talked to him.
She got out of the train at Rouse’s point and just stood there watching the train go away.
She went back to Claudia’s to drink Vodka as the FBI was watching for apartments with utilities paid up front and in full.
I half expected the Jennings to be shot by reps of the KGB at the border.

Probably not. Recall the KGB wanting second generation agents so that they would have backgrounds that would pass an FBI investigation. Renee apparently managed to get an FBI job. It seems unlikely she was second generation.

No. She would have been arrested and locked up in the US.
Martha finds happiness in Russia. She adopted that adorable little girl and met her soulmate in the process—a lawyer who handled the adoption. They went on to have more children together. She built a career teaching English at a private school and eventually became the headmistress. The prestigious school caters to an international base along with wealthy Russian families. Her husband becomes a prominent judge and eventually gets pulled into tricky situations (think: government and mafia). Martha is well-equipped to help him navigate things until she is pulled into the fray and asked to spy on powerful families at her school. Some things never change.
I would watch this!
