You are confusing 2020 (when the northeast was hit with covid before Florida was and little was known about the virus) with 2021 (when a lot more was known about masking and vaccines were plentiful).

In 2021, DeSantis let more of his constituents die (per capita) than almost every other governor.

I trust DeSantis more on the world stage than Trump. Trump was a useful idiot for Putin. I feel like DeSantis is way less of a liability.

Ok, fair enough - not including before that time isn't a good comparison. And not age adjusting it doesn't make sense given Florida has a lot of older people. Florida comes out as basically average when you do this. Not saying Desantis couldn't have better... but attacking him for covid response is not a winning strategy. Heck... most people I know admire Florida's "guts" for doing what they did, since there wasn't an obvious worse outcome as a result

Why? NY and NJ and others did very poorly when little was known about the virus and there were no vaccines. Florida did terribly in the summer of 2021, when vaccines were plentiful and we knew that masking correctly was very effective.

But I agree that the American people as a whole likely won't care, especially by 2024.

Florida lost 77,000 people. That's awful. Considering how many were lost in 2021, it didn't have to be nearly that bad. But I don't think that number is likely to hurt him politically.

What you folks don't realize is that after you vote these people into power and they change the laws, push the interpretation of the laws to the absolute limit, line their pockets, and pack the courts, etc. to stay in power is that you become as powerless as all the people you want them to stick it to to vote them out.

I love this. It's just a political "disagreement" when you're picking and choosing the news outlets that cover your official government actions, or when you enact laws against gays. This isn't a political disagreement. It's a fundamental disagreement about how society should function. I'm against fascism, light or heavy, but you do you.

And my point still stands - once you vote these people into power you won't be able to vote them out.

Campaign activities are not "official government actions." Reasonable people can disagree about the propriety of not allowing left leaning media into campaign events, but it is well within DeSantis's rights. People no longer trust the media to accurately report, so it's hard to take the media's side on this.

But signing bills into law is, and that's what DeSantis did. Try again.
