Will DCPS also require boosters for every student over the age of 12?
Yes. Check your email.
I really hope parents push back on this. It is BS at this point, and an overreach by DCPS. Public school should not have barriers that include a vaccine that doesn’t prevent the spread of a disease that is pretty inconsequential in 99.99% of children.

Ok. Who did you write to about it?
Email any and everyone you can.
Email the Board of Ed. Email addresses located under Bios.
https://sboe.dc.gov/page/board-biographies
Email the Mayor. Email OSSE. Email the Department of Health.
Ask them to justify the decision to mandate his shot for kids to attend public schools. Inappropriate, for sure.

No one bothers to engage you all or push back when you make up non-existent science or hang out with tin-hat conspiracy theorists who think Pfizer is paying off DCPS.
By all means, please proceed...
Dude. Only FOUR percent of under 5s are vaccinated, and only 30% of 5-11 are fully vaccinated. You need to get out of your echo chamber. The vast majority of parents are not worried about their kids getting covid. At this point, the forces that are turning covid into a disruption that hurts kids are institutions (like DCPS) that are forcing parents to chose between vaccination and their kid staying in school.
As for the "non-existent science," it's quite clear that covid is very low risk for kids, and the vaccine does not stop infection or transmission at any significant rate (maybe not at all in the 5-11 year olds). It's absolutely irrational public policy to exclude kids from school based on their covid vaccination status.
Let's remember again: we're going on 2.5 years of covid and NOT A SINGLE DC KID has died from covid. I don't think any have died in MoCo or NOVA either.

Why would I push back? My kids are already vaccinated and boosted.
Cool. Then you are a happy camper, I guess. Move on to a different thread?
Some of us are extremely disturbed by the idea of these mandates. Some of us believe that this should be a decision left up to parents.
