I'm glad it worked out, OP. I was one of the PPs who suggested being honest with your friends and counting on them to rally. After I posted, I started thinking about an upcoming trip I have with other moms (our kids are college and older). I realized how stressed I am about it because, like you, I have a lot going on right now. I decided it isn't the right time for me to do this trip, and when I texted my friends, they were all so supportive and understanding. Thanks for helping me focus on what I was feeling, rather than just pushing it all under the surface.

Lucky you. Mine doesn’t. Which is why there’s no way I’d risk my kid picking up Covid in a multi-family beach trip 3 days before camp.

OP I often feel like you during the summer. It feels over scheduled sometimes. But I usually push through and make it work and during/afterwards, I'm almost always glad I went.

It's great your friends were supportive of you bowing out. We definitely all hit our limit sometimes, and it's ok to rest. It's hard to know exactly where the line is. It sounds like you found it, and that your friends know you well enough that you wouldn't have bailed if you didn't really NEED the space.

Only because we had COVID. The other family still wanted us to come because we wanted to get our kids together and hadn't seen each other since before COVID. Try to pull it together and go if you can.

Whenever I have this much trouble making a decision to get out of something, I just go. I have never regretted it.

So glad to hear this! This whole thread was making me really stressed out - as in questioning whether anyone is a true friend around here. I have some amazing friendships, and those friends would react just as yours did. Gosh. I am going to tell them how much I appreciate them - right now!

Good to hear! I'm glad you're getting the break that you badly need. And your friends are real friends. Any overworked overscheduled mom can understand where you're coming from. I too was shocked at many of the replies here.
