Apparently DCUM would hate my neighborhood. Kids stop by each other’s houses to play. They ask if it’s a good time, and if it’s not, they go home or somewhere else. I like that my child is learning to navigate social situations. I’m not her cruise director.

back in the day, kids rode bikes for hours, stopp9ng by various lids houses. sometimes the kids will come out to play and sometimes they couldnt. not a big deal.

In the summer? People eat lunch later in the summer. No big deal. Feed the kid or send her away. OP sounds like a PITA.

How is letting your kid ride their bike (and the kid deciding to stop at OP’s house to see if OP’s kid can play) “foisting your kid” on anyone? My kids get up later in the summer and eat later, but they know where they live and where lunch is when they are hungry. No one is “expecting” anyone to do anything. There was no obligation to OP.

I'm not envisioning this as someone who "sent their kid over". I'm picturing a tween riding around the neighborhood seeing who's around to hang. This is so not a big deal. I know op said it's not "in the neighborhood" but what does that really mean... The kid biked what, a mile or so? No big deal, any of it.

I have no problem with a kid stopping by to play with my kid unannounced. I would have just sent a text to the mom saying that we can't play long a d would be sending the other kid home in a few. I also would have liked taking the other kid to the pool though. My kids like playing with other children and have a better time with friends.
