To match Russia's "fairness" toward US citizens, maybe the US should do the same thing - start rounding up and incarcerating any Putin-connected Russian citizens in the US for administrative-offense level things like unpaid parking tickets and offer to send them to Russia as prisoner exchange. That would be comparably fair to what Russia is doing.
I’m all for this plan. I just don’t think we should exchange Victor Bout who is a mass murderer, for Britney Griner. Round up some oligarchs, trump up the charges and exchange them for Britney.
Round up random Russian nationals on charges and offer them up for prisoner exchange for Griner.
I think we could get a lot more in exchange for their oligarchs than a basketball player.
Nah, we just need to round up a few of the oligarch's adult children at NYU, HBS, Wharton, Stanford, etc. Pretty easy pickin's, should be easy to get them on a trumped up charge.

I guess now that Russia is a pariah in the international sports scene they don't need as many foreign ringers playing.

No 10 years is not the typical drug sentence in the US.

I really can't believe that as a gay woman she was comfortable going to Putin's Russia at all. I speak Russian, love Russian culture, and I haven't been comfortable going to Russia for at least a decade ... and I'm a straight white woman. What FOX has to do with it is that they've taken Russia's side on things so much lately that one wonders if they get kickbacks from Putin's communications director.

I would say Russia has better evidence against her; the story makes sense that she threw some cartridges in and forgot the content.
I once border a flight for Saudi Arabia with a Maxim magazine- that would have been 10 years in prison if the flight attendant did not catch me before take off and get it off the plane.
