I’ve made this pie for a diabetic before with Lily chocolate chips instead of regular.

Agree. Please skip this party on principle.

Get light, sugar free ice cream and serve with grilled peaches r caramelized banana slices. Banana slices don’t need extra sugar to carmelize.
Spike the watermelon with vodka
Google Japanese low calorie desserts mochi, red bean cakes, rainbow cake, matcha tea
Chia pudding made with almond milk trifle, layer with berries and pieces of a box mix sugar free cake.
Google sugar free baking, some artificial sweeteners become bitter with baking.

Do something with dark chocolate

I was coming on here to say pavlova or homemade meringue cookies. I wouldn’t cut the sugar.

And I would steer clear of any sugar substitutes, even stevia. They’re not used in upscale dining for a reason. Reason being they are disgusting.

"Natural" sugar is still sugar. Olive oil is still fat. Artificial sweeteners are all gross.

I think the only real solution is to bring a bottle of vodka and some cut up limes.

+1. Or grownup popsicles. The New York Times has featured them a few times.

Avocado brownies aren’t bad.
Just pick a dessert with a lot of fruit. It’s summer anyway. Something with strawberries. Or A plum tart on a sheet of phyllo dough would be pretty light and taste delicious.

It is awful. Do not do that. How sad for a party.

I would probably do some berries with lightly sweetened whipped cream. Or maybe an angel food cake with berries.

Monk fruit is great. Low glycemic index.

It tastes disgusting.

Agreed, it’s got an awful aftertaste.

I am somewhat of a super taster. I wouldn't go to that party b.c all sugar substitions have bad aftertastes: Stevia, splenda,, monk fruit, aspartame saccharine all taste terrible.

And Splenda gives me diarrhea.

And the sugar alcohols...they are worse. Xylitol, Mannitol etc give me terrible diarrhea within 30 minutes of eating them. I'm not the only one. Read through the Amazon reviews of Haribo Sugarfree Gummie Bears.

So no- I'm not going to a party which will taste terrible and clean me out like a colonoscopy prep. Tho the dark chocolate dipped strawberries sounded good if real sugar was used.

I mean, you weren’t invited so…

I don’t have the same problem with sugar alcohols (unless I overdo it) but they do taste not good. Can some people truly not taste the sort of sour/bitter taste? Monk fruit probably has the taste closest to sugar, but it’s still sour.

I’m curious about this party. I can get bringing a low carb/reduced sugar or whatever treat to a diabetic’s birthday or having one at a party for the same, but why would someone have an entire party of not very good tasting desserts? It’s like a vegan bakery: what’s the point?

How does the texture of reducing the sugar that much work out? I saw a recipe on the internet just now and it had you adding in weird stuff like inulin and agar.
