Notably, the olives, tzatziki and real Greek salad were absolutely to die for (and so much better than what I’ve eaten here).

Hummus isn't Greek so I have no idea why you included this in your list.

NP - neither are stuffed grape leaves. Hopefully after 3 weeks in Greece you realized that it’s different than the Middle East.

I dare you to tell my MIL that dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) aren’t Greek. They absolutely are.

Nostos, the best Greek restaurant in the area, serves hummus. And that’s all you need to know.

mmmmm, Nostos. yum

But could explain why normal people associate hummus with being Greek, even if erroneously. Harmless mistake.
Doesn't make hummus Greek tho no matter how good the place is

The food was mentioned in Ancient Greek like 2000 years ago: thrion. This was a fig leaf stuffed with sweet cheese. The word used now dolma or dolmades is from Turkish I think. But the original food was from 🇬🇷 🇬🇷 🇬🇷 Greece

I love Greek food but that is a hard NO from me. It tastes like what cat food smells like.

I thought stuffed grape leaves were greek? Maybe we can agree stuffed grape leaves are honorary greek, like how we all enjoy a good chimichanga at a mexican restaurant even though you’d never find it on a traditional menu in Mexico.

There is a Greek place in Falls Church. Aphrodite I think.

I would love a gyro bite. Pita triangle, smear of tzatziki, diced onion/tomato, little chunk of gyro meat, sprinkle feta on top. All on a toothpick.

Alton brown has a good recipe for the gyro meat.
