Doubtful, but I do know several Blair voters from last time who are switching to Elrich. In fact I know a former staunch Floreen supporter who is now campaigning for Elrich.
Do you know why?
DP but the reality is that there are only two groups that absolutely hate him, the real estate sector and law enforcement.
For everyone else, he’s been from so-so to great.
He was much more responsible and displayed more leadership about COVID than the Council, who were both behaving irresponsibly and also using allowing Riemer to use COVID as a means to constantly attack Elrich.
It’s that last part which turned me real sour on Riemer. I couldn’t believe it.
How exactly was Elrich more responsible on Covid than the council members?
You’re kidding right? The council during COVID was a mess. There is no way to claim that they showed any leadership on anything, except stepping in to ensure that HS football was played. But they could have taken stronger action, sitting as the Board of Heath, to set the policies. Instead they sat on their hands and Riemer in particular did nothing except complain that Elrich wasn’t copying that disaster in Chicago, Lori Lightfoot, in declaring the county was “open for business”. They also complained that Elrich was exercising fiscal restraint and not blowing stimulus funds on needless crap. Which is interesting context when you see people complain that Elrich is fiscally irresponsible. The council is absolutely worse and cannot be trusted.
What is interesting about Riemer was that the COVID experience in the county north of the Beltway was dramatically different and you’d think an At-Large member would be more attuned to that. Large portions of the county barely closed. Let’s not forget the disastrous “leadership” of Hucker. What a mess. COVID was the council at its absolute worst.
Elrich was a mess too, that’s all I’m saying. I particularly loved the executive order where he tried to further reduce daycare capacity.

How? In what way?

Elrich did a much better job with Covid than I thought he would, and I am concerned anyone funded by developers is going to stuff east county with tons of "affordable" apartment developments. We have enough of that already.
What makes you say Blair is funded by developers? I know Riemer is tight with developers, but hadn't heard about Blair taking developer money.

Elrich can't get along with anyone, and doesn't know what the word compromise means, and therefore gets nothing done.
Reimer is a liar. Everyone he talks to, he tells them exacy what he knows they want to hear. Believes himself when he tells people he will get it done (he has been on the Council 12 years and is a big part of the problem, not the solution)
Blair is a former Republican, and a businessman. He has not been involved in government and has no idea how things work. Will likely have some giveaways to his wealthy friends.
Vote for who you feel is the least bad. For me, it's Blair. Montgomery County cannot take another Elrich administration, or a massive loss under Reimer. Blair may help his friends a bit, but hopefully will also fix some of the mess created by Elrich and Reimer, and even more hope, maybe he will entice more businesses to move here.
Dude: 30 years ago there was nothing wrong with being an R. It was not an existential choice Blair is Democrat. Period.
