Also, I spent 13 days in Italy in April and most regretted packing tan pants. (I packed in a carry-on).
So interesting - why?? I have worn mine a bunch of times this spring/summer and find them very versatile. I’m trying to pack in a carry-on as well!!
ONE pair of pajamas….no way. Just check a bag.

Really? No shorts at all? I have some cute “nicer” shorts with a paper bag sort of top that look very put together. Would a pair of those be ok to mix it up?
Italians really don't wear shorts.

I do this every night when I travel and never take more than two underwear and one bra with me (besides what I wear on the plane). If the bra isn't fully dry in the morning, I simply use the hotel hair dryer.
Sorry but at some point, I want to enjoy my vacation and not be worried about washing underwear every night. Folding up a bunch of underwear is just not that much of a space taker in a suitcase.
Not to beat this particular topic to death but I'm totally in the "wash and wear" camp here. More underwear is just more to keep track of, gross rolling it up in the suitcase dirty, etc. I usually bring it into the shower with me at the end of the day, rinse, and it's dry by morning. The space difference between 3 vs 10 pairs of underwear is equal to an extra shirt, which I find way more valuable!

1-2 pairs linen wide leg pants
2 pairs shorts (1 denim, one linen)
2 dresses (1 midi length with short sleeves, 1 sundress)
1 skirt (knee length)
1 black romper (can be dressed up with accessories)
6 t-shirts - 2 white, gray, black, one colorful, one striped
1 nicer blouse
One lightweight linen sweater or button down layer
Biggest issue is we won’t have access to a washer/dryer until almost the end of the trip. I can hand wash underwear and t-shirts in the sink, but that’s harder for shorts and pants.
For shoes I’m thinking white Vejas, Birkenstock gizeh in silver, athletic shoes. I’d like a “nicer” sandal but I don’t have one that’s good for walking.

Arms and heads covered for churches in Italy? I’ve heard knees and shoulders but not that. I thought that was mosques? Are you sure?
True for Rome, Florence, Tuscany, Venice etc etc etc

Also, a front-facing, over the shoulder purse bag that I can lock and hug in crowds for security (pickpockets). Don't forget a sunhat. My California spouse says to pack like you're going to LA, because that's the climate.

Anonymous wrote:Just finished two weeks in Italy and agree with more dresses and fewer shorts/athleisure. I brought a number of athleisure bottoms and regular shorts and tops and didn’t wear any bc I felt like I stood out and looked sloppy in them. Try to find some light cotton dresses and wear with your Vejas. I got a couple of dresses from Zara. Have a great trip!
