Nobody is talking about triangle tops. The “bikini” tops for kids are cropped tankinis, the same shape as a sports bra.

Well, in this country, rightly or wrongly, little girls don’t run around topless. Bikinis look weird on little girls because they don’t have breasts to hold them in place—they were designed for women. I won’t give my 5 year old a bra, either, which is similar to a bikini top. When she needs one, she can have one, but I’m not pushing her down that path.

This is precisely when my teen DD stopped wearing a bikini. I remember being worried about the “modesty” of a suit at one point when she was around 10, and now I just laugh, as she will not go the the beach or pool these days without a full rash guard and swim shorts. I miss the times when she was completely unselfconscious about her body and just had fun outdoors. Relax and let your little kids wear what they want to the pool, and for heaven’s sake, stop sexualizing little girls (and teens, for that matter) in bathing suits.

Sweetie, there is a difference between bikinis and two piece suits. Some of you are pretty dumb.

My girls have always worn one piece. They actually swim, and a lot. Both on teams and when at the beach/pool they are out swimming, not just sand playing or splashing. One pieces are more practical.

My oldest is 12 and the topic of a bikini has never come up. But I'm fine with it if that is the style she wanted now or at any point moving forward.

No one pieces on kids unless racing. Too much of a pain.

People who think kids wearing bikinis is sexualizing them are gross. They are the ones sexualizing them.

I let my kids pick out their own suits. No age limits.
