California has no water! It’s ground zero fir the climate crisis. Lake Mead and Lake Powell are at historic lows. You couldn’t drag me to California.
Summers in DC are horrible with terrible humidity. The farther south you go, the worse it gets.
Agree. So many problems in California, but the weather is not one of them.

It gets dark and grey during the cold winters. If your kid is susceptible to seasonal affective disorder and/or not a fan of winter sports, Dartmouth may not be a good fit.
DC's freshman class had 3 suicides in 1 year, which is very high for such a small class.

As a native Minnesotan I’m chuckling at these replies. The most absurd is the getting lost in a snowstorm one. That is impossible on or near a college campus. However, getting blitzed and passing out in the snow is possible and has happened on northern campuses.
Ithaca is about 10 degrees colder than DC. It is warmer than Ann Arbor, Madison, Minneapolis, and even smaller privates like Grinnell. It is cloudier than most places, though, so that is a factor.
