The officers who tried to confront the shooter were shot. How do you confront a shooter that is holding a semi-automatic rifle? Should SROs be armed with similar weapons? What's your solution?

I truly do not understand why police officers are not rising up against the US allowance of personal assault weapons. I wish they would start speaking up about completely banning these types of guns. We need to stop these mass murders, and as Uvalde has shown us, cops with guns are simply not a match for killers with AR-15s and body armor.

I am glad they don't have SROs. An SRO would be way more likely to inappropriately harm a student then to stop a mass shooter.

I'm pretty good with a handgun and I would be happy to do all I could if I were an SRO at a school (I have a PhD and a much much more lucrative job... so that would never happen). But to take out someone 20 or more feet away with body armor, with a handgun is really tough. The recoil and accuracy of handguns is just really low. You could unload the whole magazine and maybe hit them a couple times in the leg/arm. Good luck on a headshot before they shoot you like 20 times with their AR 15

The SRO in our school is an invaluable resource for students, admin, and teachers. He knows and talks to our kids regularly, plus knows the community and is in constant contact with local police so knows if there are suspicious people or activities around the school that require temporarily enhannced school security (for example PE classes and lunches inside, extra precautions at entry doors, etc.).

My child’s SRO has helped a lot when my child was attacked at MS. Unfortunately they are necessary in upper level schools.
