Wow! Congrats. That almost never happens!
We know. Something like 3.5%. It made our week.
How were you informed? Are they finished their WL? My DC is on UChicago's WL and we did not hear anything.
The regional admissions rep called DC’s school counselor who called me. I indicated strong interest. The admissions rep then sent an email to DC and called that evening and made the offer. They wanted to know we would accept which we did on the spot.
The next day we got an email with details and a requirement for a $500 deposit.

Case typically has a large waitlist. Some years it really moves and they really need it to fill the class. Take 2020/21: there were 1304 Freshman, and 1076 of those were from the Wait List! Yes---82.5% of the class of 2024 came from the WAITLIST!
Other years they take 0 or less than 20.
Case definately has a difficult time predicting yield. IMO there are several factors affecting this: First, Cleveland isn't the most exciting place so location works against it for many (many would rather be in California or NE/Boston area); 2nd being just below the top tier means that many, many of their admits/accepted students also wanted to go to Ivy, MIT/Stanford/CMU/T25 schools (Case is a "t20/Ivy reject" school) So it's very hard to predict how many will get accepted elsewhere or not each year and if they can afford wherever else they were admitted. ****I state this as someone whose DC ended up picking between Case and another slightly higher ranked school that has similar problems (location that can make Cleveland seem downright amazing and a class full of students/applicants many of whom applied to and wanted to attend Ivy/MIT/CMU/Stanford/T25 schools and have the stats on paper to earn their lottery ticket to the admissions game. DC will not be attending Case, but it was a good school, just not the best fit for them.
It seems this year they have eliminated a large portion of the list but are still keeping some students on, with the possibility of a spring admit. DC got an email today explaining that they're still interested in DC if a spot opens up, which they claim they might not know for a couple of weeks. We'll see.
We're in the same boat.![]()
We too! DD got the Final Check e-mail yesterday. Fingers crossed for everyone!
Did your email talk about the possibility of study abroad in the fall, with a link to a webinar that happened tonight?
Yes via Verto. Not too sure about that. Did you attend their session?
Anonymous wrote:DD waitlisted at Case Western. She keeps getting emails asking if it's her first choice, and she says yes. Her stats are way higher than CW's averages, yet they put her on the waitlist. I suspect it's because she didn't visit the school. She was hoping to get accepted before visiting. She's already accepted UVA, but still would go to Case if they accepted her. This waitlist thing is strange.

Congrats. We know of a few who got off UChicago waitlist, but were asked to take a gap year.

CU Boulder
Realised that as soon as I hit submit. I keep doing that! (but I still don't get why it's CU Boulder but University of Colorado Boulder)
