You’re disgusting.
How is this disgusting? We already know busing is counterproductive. For any demographic.
It’s not busing. Look at the location.
Langley is the furthest away.
Closest - Marshall (by far)
2nd - Madison
3rd - Mclean
4th Langley
You would have these kids get on a bus and pass two high schools to get to their school?
Marshall is at capacity already, you’d be creating an attendance island at Madison, and McLean is one of the most overcrowded schools in FCPS.
They should use the capacity where it’s available and right now that’s Langley. How do you think Great Falls ended up at Langley when it’s closer to Herndon and South Lakes.

“ the brunt”
What a nice way to put it.

Is Marshall at capacity? If so, why would FCPS spend money on an expansion when there is an undercapacity school (Langley) within reasonable distance? Which school would be bumped down the renovation queue to get Marshall more space?
And let's be honest - Marshall recently had a renovation so is in the back of the line. Plus it has no room to expand but up, and that depends on the strength of the existing foundation.
McLean is in desparate need of a renovation/expansion, and is nowhere near the front of the queue.
But Madison is finishing up its renovation/expansion, and Langley has extra room as well. Seems like there are other options here than just expanding Marshall.
Have you seen what's going on in Vienna? Madison is about to explode.
Tear downs to put up 6,000 to 8,000 sq ft homes for families that consist of three people?
You haven't been on 123 in a while have you? They aren't building single family homes anymore.
At $1 million, this is Vienna's version of affordable housing.

And Marshall will probably get screwed and end up with a much higher FARMS rate than all of the other schools listed.

And Abrar Omeish is concerned about interested students at AP schools not having access to IB at Marshall, which of course becomes even less likely if they load GCM up with more affordable housing.
Mark Frisch won’t care. He’s just a puppet. Don’t get your hopes up. He needs to be recalled or voted out asap. Horrid human who cares more about his own gains than the children he represents. We failed by voting him in!!

This is new housing so there are no existing residents with ties to particular schools.
As I understand it, Marshall is at capacity and it’s quite hard to place into Marshall now for IB. Langley on the other hand is still below capacity. Would this not be a good opportunity for FCPS to honor its commitment to equity and One Fairfax by assigning this new development to Langley?
From a capacity perspective it might make sense.
Moving kids around by race and income for “equity” is silly.
It’s not because of equity it’s bc of space. It’s the only school in the vicinity that can take additional students. Further Overcrowding schools in the area bc Langley is 2 more miles further out is BS. And the way it works now, kids way further out than 5 miles “get bused” to attend Langley. And why is it called getting bused only when poor kids do it?

Anyone?
