When you only got into safeties that you didn’t expect to have to choose from, and they’re fairly similar with none standing out over the other, or with each having one significant flaw that you need to decide you can live with, then yes it can be hard.

Visit both and pick one! Not hard. They can allwsys transfer.

It is hard for my kid because DC got off the waitlist this week at a school we haven't been able to visit. Picking it blind after settling on a different school required a bit of time. It's not like they are missing a deadline. They have until midnight tonight.

Kid decided late last night. Not happy with decision because I don’t think it’s a good fit and DC did not do enough looking into the school, but it’s not my decision to make.

I think we finally heard the decision about 10 pm last night. In the past 2 weeks, DC has cycled between three different schools, but finally came back around to the one that had been the favorite for months before that (as mom and dad expected).

I agree but my kid is one of these last minute hold outs. It's driving me nuts. By midnight tonight it will have to be done.

I am so happy for you! And I am an NU alum, too, with one dc who graduated in 2020.

My honest opinion: NU is a great school, but it's not worth $83k. If my dc had lived in a dorm senior year, it would have cost $71k (it was less because dc lived in an apartment). That was just three years ago! There's a point where you just say it's ridiculous and steer your kids to other schools.
