Because they are not doing anything illegal. Annoying? Sure. I’m sure the sound annoys you and seeing them out there doing it every day for no reason annoys you. But ultimately this is a MYOB situation. They’re not doing anything wrong or illegal.

np He may have the right but, he isn't neighborly since he is annoying people. I get it op. My neighbor's dad is older and he enjoys mowing the lawn and you can't enjoy being outside AND he takes forever to get the job done. Not much I can do honestly but, go inside when he is out there.

Grass grows faster in spring maybe around 1/4" each day so he's mowing about a 1/4" each day probably not collecting or bagging since his is so miniscule. Now if we were in the dog days of summer like in August where the grass hardly grows, he would just be plain foolish to cut it everyday and waste gas.

I'm not sticking up for him but trying to provide some justification for mowing every day. LOL

My elderly dad mows his lawn probably 3-5 days a week because he likes the exercise but has a big yard and finds it too tiring to do it all in a day. So he does it in batches. He has every right to do so.

Which authority? The lawn care police?


He could ride all day every day and there is no authority who can do anything about it. If you called cops and told your story you should be on alert because they are going to start looking at things to cite you for.

So the issue is that everyone uses landscaping companies who zip in and out in 20 min , this guy takes at least an hour to mow almost everyday next door. Nope. One neighbor versus an entire two streets. Still not a big deal.

OP working from home is irrelevant. I’m a SAHM and excessive loud gas-powered lawn equipment drives me insane. It is beyond annoying. And OP’s neighbor sounds like an a-hole and/or senile.

What exactly do you think authorities will do? Race over to his home, lights and sirens flashing, tackle him to the ground and drag him off for a competency examination?

I'll trade you for the lawn boomer, at least he's doing something constructive and there is a limit to how loud it gets.

Instead I have the next door boomer who listens to loud music all day long outside while he works and has never heard of wireless headphones AND the boomer band down the street who loves to practice in their garage. That's on top of all the loud lawn services which come on different days.

Fortunately I have noise cancellation headphones.
