Honestly, I wish for a competent version of Bowser's middle of the road stuff, but all those people don't hate themselves enough to get into politics.

It's the golden age of thoroughly uninspiring DC city politicians.

Not surprising why WTU backed him.
If you want a mayor who will be a slave to special interest groups, Robert White is your candidate.
(Golly, Bowser is no peach but I can’t believe there are fully grown adults who think Robert White is a serious candidate for mayor).
Is it nice? To be so disconnected from reality?

Agree with this- I actually like Robert White as a person as he does seem more genuine and empathetic than the current administration but feel that his campaign has tracked too far in the Janeese Lewis George / Charles Allen direction for me to be able to vote for him. I’ll be begrudgingly voting Bowser again and hope he does come back in 4 years with a little more common sense baked into his strategy.
Honestly, I think all Robert White needed to do was campaign on a “good governance” campaign to improve the quality of life in the city and city services, while committing to not be beholden to special interests. That’s it. It’s sounds dumb and corny but this is really what everyone can agree that Bowser does poorly and it’s the number one frustration of DC residents. Instead of trying to capture some Marion Barry energy, he should have been trying to capture some Anthony Williams energy.
Running an ideological campaign to Bowsers left just plays into her perceived strengths. Running a campaign that directly questions her competence in effectively and fairly administration of the city goes right to her weaknesses.
For example, here are some potential taking points that could have been effective against Bowser
(1) Crime is increasing because Bowser is neglecting Wards 7 & 8 and leaving those communities behind. Bowser talks about Wards 7 & 8 like they should be part of Maryland, instead of DC. This is unjust. I would ensure that ALL communities in DC are afforded the same resources. Many schools in Wards 7 & 8 have been neglected for maintenance and de-prioritized for capital improvements. I would allocate the money to make sure those schools can get upgraded to provide the same quality of facilities offered at Murch and Eaton. Education is a cornerstone of lifting people out of poverty and people cannot wait any longer.
(2) I will conduct a thorough review of all capital expenditures across all departments to ensure that resources are being prioritized equitably.
(3) I will reform DCRA so that it works for the people of DC and not businesses, whether it’s Comcast or a fly by night property developer.
(4) I will improve the quality of city services for everyone. 911 is a joke. Many neighborhood parks are in disrepair. Trash & recycling pickup. Etc.
(5) I will not publicly court or be beholden to special interests, whether it’s the richest man in the country or local construction companies. The people of DC deserve to be fairly and democratically represented.
I just thought of this 30 seconds. Robert White seems to be running a campaign for social media engagement instead of addressing the practical needs of the people of DC.
Robert White cannot run on that because Trayon White is going to either win in Wards 7 and 8 or come in second to Bowser. Robert White's only chance to win slipped away when his hamfisted attempt to get Trayon off the ballot failed. Now he might finish third in the race.
You mistakenly believe that Robert White should be campaigning for the Black vote. In fact, he should be going after Bowser’s liberal white supporters. They can be motivated by injustice. They can be motivated by poor quality of services. They can be motivated by distaste for corruption.

Same. I don't understand why this isn't a bigger issue. It's an embarrassment to our nation that DC can't figure this out. I'm embarrassed that US and foreign visitors come here and see this nonsense.
