I had to pay for foreign language and instrument classes myself as an adult.

I consume more art than I create at the moment.

Trash can be recycled into really beautiful stuff … I need to work on recycling myself more.

NP. I think buying kids’ clothes at thrift stores is smart. They grow like little weeds so there’s no point in spending a lot. I judge parents who slather their kids in labels head to toe, or make them wear twee items like smocked dresses and John-Johns.


Why not both? I get 90% of my kids clothes from buy nothing groups, and then buy a handful of really cute high end things for photos and holidays.

I only think this is trashy if you’re trashy about it. Like there are monogamous married people who are trashy (aggressive PDA, talk about their sex lives with anyone, fight a lot, etc.) and divorced people who are trashy in a similar way (trash their ex on social media, over the top about being single again, sharing lots about their sex lives, etc.)

Being poly itself is not trashy. As with any other relationship status, there is a trashy way to do it. It’s not really about being poly, it’s about not having good boundaries or assuming everyone you meet wants to know who you have sex with and how and where and why. No one cares.

At least she gave you fruit - MIL would be damned if the kids would have gotten anything other than junk food chips.


One time we were driving across the Canadian border back to the States. They stop you at the border and won’t allow agricultural products across the border. My mom had just bought a bag of oranges and she made us pull to the side and eat them all so they would not be thrown out.

This is me. My kids (young teens now) have never eaten fast food or Cracker Barrel on a road trip. We do pull over and eat at picnics areas, though.
