I’m the PP here. Yes. Thai is TERRIBLE in DC. Compared to places in LA? I haven’t found a place that has an edible pad Thai. Beau Thai has a nice grouper dish and everyone’s curry is serviceable. But none of the noodle dishes are good out here.
Because you need to go to the suburbs. Thai Ghang Waan, for example: https://www.thaighangwaan.com/
I really like Kiin Imm and even though they're far, they deliver through Ubereats to my home in downtown DC. Worth the fee.
Those 2 are my favorite thai reataurants

I am Mexican and from Arizona. The suggestions on here have been as good as I have found so far: Taco Bamba, Chuy's, El Tio and Oyamel. I would also add to this list Guapos (but not the chimi).
From my undergrad days, there's a Tex Mex restaurant in DC proper that lives in my memory as even better, but I have not been able to find it again.

Many good authentic places in the Eden center.
