I’m not sure this marks the imminent doom everyone is predicting for TJ. It’s a notable loss, sure, but all it indicates is that Langley and TJ are at a similar level this year… which has been the case for all but the last few years. Maybe 2019-21 was the exception, not the rule.

Bad days for TJ with affirmative action equity admissions in the future.

Of course!! The Asians are the ones who are exceling in such competitions. It was never about TJ, it was always a way to suppress Asians because other races cannot outperform Asians.

They lost to Langely in Regionals (2023). There is a limit to how many seniors can participate. The team should have good %ge of spohmores and Freshmen

If you look at the results, TJ had one really bad event that cost them 1st place. I wouldn't panic over this. TJ students are actually the type that need to learn from some failure.

The limit is 7 per team -- so 21 total for a school like TJ that fields three teams. That's almost half their roster.

You have to have teachers willing to run the club, or at least sponsor it while parents do the coaching.

Many = 0, 1 or 2.

My DC participated in this for the first time and I was amazed how well all the Fairfax schools and NOVA as a whole does compared to the rest of the state. The entire area even with TJ siphoning off a lot of students does tremendously well.
