I loved Beverly Cleary's 2 memoirs. I don't know if they're even in print, but if you liked her books as a kid, I think you'd really like her memoirs. She lived such an interesting life!

Yes me too! Audio book style these really shine. J Simpson's was good, but omg her "verge of tears" voice really almost made me jump off a cliff. I still enjoyed it though, so would totally recommend.

I need to add Katie Couric's to my list. I seem to have fallen into "depressing memoir" land which is fine and all, but I need some fluffier things.

I loved Becoming by Michele Obama too. Hearing it in her voice made it that much better.

Is the biography of her grandmother and has the most riveting opening.

I listened to Matthew McCoughnehy (can never spell it) Greenlights on audio and frequently lol’d, and I’m not a huge LOL girl. He is just a great old school Southern storyteller.

If you ever knew that friend’s uncle in high school who’d pour a bourbon and start telling you stories about his younger days that made you laugh so hard you peed your pants, that’s Matthew McC. He also is surprisingly wise re a lot of things.

I like memoirs on audiobooks.

Good fluffy recent ones are by Jessica Simpson, Katie Couric, and Richard Marx.

I haven't read Shania Twain's, but the Jessica Simpson memoir was very interesting and I also appreciated that she wrote it herself. It definitely exceeded my expectations.

I also enjoyed Open by Andre Agassi and The Rural Diaries by Hilarie Burton. The first memoir I ever read was by Annette Funicello (one of the original Mousketeers). I remember being fascinated by her life and how different things were then.

Ann Patchett's two books of autobiographical essays; This is the Story of a Happy Marriage and These Precious Days. Her writing is superb.

I know you said not depressing, but I still have to recommend one of the saddest books I've ever read: My Lobotomy. Although, I think it made me more angry than depressed.

The Ugly Cry by Danielle Henderson. It's a little heavy at times, but she is also simply hilarious. The love shines through and I never wanted it to end!
