It's definitely not cheap around here anymore, though. Ship's sailed for that one.
Maybe a year ago, but the ship looks like its sinking.
OK, come buy some property here!

Spend a few weeks there if you can. Many people love it, but it is not for everyone.
I’m from around there and am wondering how you found a bland upscale suburb to be “third world.” Personally, I find DMV people so insufferable that I dream of leaving every day. Different strokes, I guess.
DP.
Of course it's different strokes.
I grew up here in NoVA and I strongly dislike FL for a multitude of reasons, if I never set foot in FL again it would be too soon. To each his own.
You can google it and look at the averages. I’m very familiar with the area and completely disagree with PP though. You almost never get a cool June morning in Florida like you sometimes do up here. And I was there for a wedding in February and gotten eaten alive by mosquitos in nice weather. It’s pretty gross.
The HATE for FL is comical. Really comical.
We are so dang crowded...so many people moving here it's crazy...I can't complain about the hate! Glad there are at least some people who will stay away!
I'm with you! The value of my condo a few miles from the beach just keeps going up up up everyday, it's fun to watch! So glad I moved to Florida in 2020. It's not as hot here today as it is in the DC area.
The humidity is all year around though down there it never ends right? It's like DC summers 24/7 365.
Not at all! We actually have four seasons. Winters are surprisingly cool. Fall and spring are beautiful. And right now, we've just had a storm here, and I had to put on a sweatshirt because it's gotten chilly. Summer mornings in Tampa Bay are better than summer mornings in DC, and so are the evenings. Don't get me wrong - summers here are long, hot, and terrible. But they are not interminable.
Thank you for this it's helpful. What temps are we talking?

Florida is for retirement, not schooling children.
well I wonder what went wrong with me then, because I went to school in south Tampa (florida!! Gasp!) and got a fantastic education.
Yeah, I’m not sure how much OP cares about schools. But it’s very possible to get a great education at Florida public (or private) schools and largely bypass the pressure cooker environment that exists in the DC area. Many in state kids go on to attend University of Florida for free, thanks to the state’s generous scholarship program.
