The police investigated and said the fault was with the bank teller. You either believe that or you don’t. But yes, like any place of employment the blame doesn’t stop with the worker bees. Someone higher up is in hot water for this too.

I have never been arrested and they follow my directions.

My guess on why he was treated differently is because he’s a black man.

Btw, I am 55 years old and grew up doing a weekly errand with my mother at the bank every Saturday morning, and my aunt is a former bank teller, and I had no idea you could request to do your bank business in a private office.

Apparently he didn't either. The officers asked him about this and he said he has always done his baking transactions this way and it's never been a problem for him. But going forward, based on this incident he will now consider contacting ahead.

I am not excusing her but hers seems really really odd reaction (like, besides all the other good points made here, why would a bank robber tell you to go elsewhere to count money - wouldn’t they want to keep you in eyesight otherwise you would just call for help when you step away?).

I forgot to add, one thing that I installed in my two black sons is don't ever expect to be treated as your white counterparts. You will never. We can't afford to expect that kind of privilege.
