My kids in HS said about 1/4 unmasked kids and 1/2 teachers. They wanted to unmask but said it felt like a political statement they weren’t interested in making. My daughter also said some of the cute boys weren’t as cute. LOL!

Both ES and MS kids reported it being about 50/50, but with the majority of teachers masked.

Lower ES grade. My class had 11 out of 26 wearing masks. I didn’t wear one.

Spouse (upper ES class) says 6 out of 22 in homeroom, and about 5 in each of two other classes were masked.

It is stunning. FCPS has turned the children into a bunch of good little sheep. The CCP could not be much more successful. If I was FCPS I would be emboldened - what more control can you exert over what the students do, what they say, what they think.

Pretty amazing - you have the kids doing something (wearing a mask) that few would want to do and that in it's current form (cloth masks, fit etc) is almost completely pointless.

At DD's middle school she said a few people across all her classes didn't wear a mask. DD likes wearing hers (helps her allergies and she is concerned about immunocompromised people) though we've told it is her choice.

I saw this happen in my early elementary classroom today. Most came in with masks, but once they saw it was ok and they wouldn’t be in trouble, they took them off. One or two were wearing them at dismissal. The one student had it on all day, the other had it off most of the day, but kept putting it off and on at dismissal time. I had mine on most of the day, but took it off several times. I’m trying to get used to not wearing it in the school. Plus I don’t want my coworkers to judge me for not wearing it since most teachers were still masked today.

Sophomore at Madison. He says 1/6 of kids were unmasked. He felt "judged" that he was not wearing a mask, as if he was a "rigid Republican". We are very liberal progressives, so it's a very interesting conversation. He has had COVID and is fully vaxxed,and feels that he poses minimal risk to others. With that said, he said if someone asked him to put a mask on he would do so as he doesn't want anyone to feel uncomfortable because of him. I'm proud of him.

My DH teaches high school. He said more teachers were unmasked than kids. He had 3 kids total and about 25% of teachers in his department were unmasked. This is a Title 1 school that is not discussed much on these forums.

5th grader says 6 unmasked in class but that some took them off throughout the day (and then put them back on at dismissal). DC reported not feeling weird but rather feeling bad that they didn't have to mask while others did.

My vaxxed ES kids unmasked today except on the bus--one all day, one most of the day. From their reports, they were very much in the minority.

Our family is as far from MAGA as you can get, but I think it's time. For us. We've had multiple discussions about how each family has to make their own choices for various reasons, and that choosing to keep masks on is a perfectly valid choice. And we've told them that if their teachers give any indication that they'd prefer kids in masks (chorus, for example), they should put them back on.

Not a liar. The teacher posted it in Schoology. I read the post myself. My child doesn't want me to report it because they are scared of repercussions.

Whether or not you believe me doesn't change that it really happened. And it doesn't make my child feel any better, either.

The teacher was absent the end of last week and Monday, so I wonder if they didn't get the memo from the Principal about what can and can't be said. I'm hoping the teacher corrects their position and realizes they aren't supposed to be making these types of statements in FCPS schools.

I work in an fcps high school. I'd estimate 90% were masked. I saw far more adults unmasked than students
