We are vaccinated DC residents. Drove to Georgetown on Saturday for dinner. Since it was the first time eating indoors since Omicron, we forgot about the vax mandate and one of our guests didn't have proof of vaccination. Got in the car and drove to VA for dinner. I imagine we are not the only family that has done this.

You don't keep a photo on your phone? It's incredibly easy, and it's handy to have a backup for your paper card anyway. This is not a real obstacle.

Why are people really into requiring masks but not into requiring vaccines? Masks are just a semi-dumb thing we do to buy us time while people get vaccinated.

I know plenty of people who are MORE willing to dine indoors when there's a vax mandate, and it's not like checking the card is all that onerous. No vax mandate for restaurants means we'll probably stop eating indoors again, at least until we see how things shake out with the masking/vax mandates going away.

I can't have been the only person who ate indoors in DC for the first time a couple of weeks ago BECAUSE of the vax mandate, and will now not do so.

If you are worried about catching Covid from eating indoors, it doesn’t make a difference if there is a vax passport or not. You can catch COVID from someone who is vaccinated. Having a vax passport does not ensure anyone’s safety.

It doesn't ensure your safety, but it does make a difference. It might not eliminate all risk, but vaccines do reduce transmission and infection. People seem to think that either a measure is 100 percent effective or it's useless, but that's not how risk works in real life.

And honestly, if you ARE vaccinated and you refuse to eat in DC because of the mandates, I don't know what to tell you. Like, you are CHOOSING to hurt local businesses and then complaining about the harm to local businesses?

Didnt the city just close a bar for ignoring its vaccine mandate?

NP. I haven't worn a mask in DC in 3 weeks and I assure you that all of the small number of people who have confronted me about it are 45-65 YO women.
