It's a pretty known term at this point. Clearly she developed a persona, and she has been criticized because that persona includes AAVE and a "blaccent," which is apparently not how she actually speaks. She has apologized for it and backed off recently, it seems.

This is a weird and seriously defensive reaction to a statement of fact. She has, in fact, been criticized for this. It is literally on the CNN main page right now. The person never said they don’t like her, or that they agree with the criticism.

They’re saying that the Black and Indigenous experience shapes the experience of other people of color. Which is unequivocally FALSE. We have different experiences and all are valid on their own.

Relegating the lived experience of non-black, non-indigenous POC to being basically an irrelevant offshoot is divisive and demeaning.

DP: but it doesn’t sound inclusive when it leads by singling out two groups and then presumably lumping everyone else together.

Why not simply use the POC moniker?

Personally, I think we need to ditch the whole white/nonwhite POC catchall.
