Brianne Nadeau has also endorsed the creation of a project to put compost bins in DC alleys. We got a notice in the mail about it two months ago.

Compost Bins! If you thought the rat problem was bad before---wait until Brianne's Rodent Smorgasbord gets into full swing.

Brianne Nadeau cut funding to deal with rats. She said the city had better things to do with its money.

What you and your neighbors can do to control it?

Needless to say we could not eradicate the rats so we eradicated the sandbox . I don't see them around my current house, but have been to two fancy/"fine dining" DC streeteries (Conn Ave and 14th st) where they were practically running over diners' feet in this past years. It just makes me wonder about the kitchens at night, bleccchh. I was by an apartment building on Upper Conn avenue today (near the currently notorious Says Inn) that had a line of bushes for landscaping, riddled with rat holes underneath like the rose bush in Mrs. Frisby and the Rats or NIHM!, and rats playing by the dumpsters. Why is this not a thing? To be addressed? It's so medieval.

Reason? Solution? How to highlight to pressurize authorities to act promptly and effectively?

Same, literally watched a parade of them go down the alley. They have climbed onto our deck in broad daylight to munch on potted herbs (cayenne doesn't deter them, FYI). If we sit outside on the deck, you see and hear the rustling of an alley rat party.

We've done several 311 requests this summer and in the most recent request they treated 22 burrows on our small block alone.

Will be investing in baiting with the new rat birth control posted above.

I'm sure other cities have rat issues, but DC is off the charts and this is the worst it's been in my 15 years of living in the city.

Huh? No city Va has anywhere near the amount of rats as DC. In the top 200 of US cities, DC scores 3rd or 4th highest number of rats several years running now.

As if Virginia doesn't have rats

Why would *any* state want to take your disgusting rats for you? Deal with them yourselves.
DP

Look at you, pretending you don't have any disgusting rats of your own.

Of course we have rats. Duh.

We just don’t want MORE of YOUR rats.

Are you this dense with everything else you encounter?

At least now you admit you have your own disgusting rat problem, too. Maybe consider that first, before presuming to look down your nose at DC for its rat problem.

DO but I’m cringing at how thick you are. There are rats everywhere. DC has a rat problem. Do you understand the difference?

So much DC whataboutism. DC gun crime is fine (just be "streetsmart" whatever that means), DC homelessness is fine, DC rat problems is fine, DC poor education system is fine, as long as these same things exist in SOME neighboring county or state, in SOME form, even if not remotely as bad as in DC proper.

What's cringey is constantly singling out DC and picking on DC over rats when Alexandria and other places have every bit as much of a rat problem as DC. And then getting angry and shouting "whataboutism" when the lack of merit of your bizarre singular focus and obsession with DC is pointed out.

DP. Then start your own thread about rats in Alexandria or wherever (complete with links), if that would make you feel better. This one's about Rats in DC, as you can see from the subject line.

Now Karen's the Queen of DCUM, dictating what we may and may not talk about.

Piss off, Karen.

You’re talking to different people, but I wouldn’t expect someone of your intellect to realize that. Tell you what - if the subject of this thread triggers you, then YOU piss off.
