So, now I guess I have to wake my 7 year old up at 5:30 for school? And my neighbor’s lazy teenager who stays up all night gaming can sleep in longer and have another excuse for not getting a job.

It really is the better way. Once parents of young children gain a little perspective, they will see it too.
Negative. We dont plan on showing up to school at 730. We’ll keep our routine and show up at 750 or so. Principal has already been notified via email about it. Of course we got the whole truancy BS and CPS threat but we said we dont care. Simple.
Ok? They aren’t going to change the start times because you do this and your child will miss all of his/her morning work.
If all you got from the message was calling for changing times I have a bridge to sell you.
Anyway, my children nor myself care a flying fk about what people think and stare at. If only people could focus more on themselves that’d be great.
Look, lady, we get that you're not disciplined eonough to a) get up 20 minutes earlier or b) streamline your morning routine to conform to the new start time but don't use your kids as pawns in your little hissy fit just to make that point.
I was born with a penis so I’m not a lady. Waking up early is not about discipline. It’s about what works with my family. I know, you can’t fathom such a concept. You probably think children belong to the state or some moronic concept like that. My kids won’t be used as pawns because they themselves said they weren’t going to cave in to new draconian measures.

I agree. For some reason, we are still using a school schedule that was designed to address the needs of an agrarian society - start times late enough for children to help with morning farm chores and summers off to help with harvest. Shouldn't we reconfigure school schedules to better align with how society functions today?
A lot of dual-income families are working all day, whether school ends at 2 or 3:30, so they need childcare either way.

Honestly, this makes so much sense to me. I’m jealous. FCPS parent who’s 14 yo goes to the bus at 6:40.
+1 from an FCPS parent. My ES starts at 9:20 am and MS starts at 7:30. And who's up first? Yes, the ES kid. My kids would be estactic if they had these start times.
Another +1 but from an APS parent. Study after study has shown it's better for HS students to start later.
