+1
Hold the line, APS.
For the purposes of this act, each school board shall (i) adopt, implement, and, when appropriate, update specific parameters for the provision of in-person instruction and (ii) provide such in-person instruction in a manner in which it adheres, to the maximum extent practicable, to any currently applicable mitigation strategies for early childhood care and education programs and elementary and secondary schools to reduce the transmission of COVID-19 that have been provided by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

That he won still disgusts me to no end but the fear is also creeping in. I do not live in NOVA and down here, it's become more and more uncomfortable since 2016. I have always been very politically engaged and invested in the future of my community and our country but even I, a nobody, find myself speaking less and avoiding doing anything that might bring attention to myself. On one hand I feel guilty because now is the time for those who know better to stand up for what is right but I'm also middle aged, tired, and feel like the battle has already been lost.
I wish politics had never become entertainment.
Youngkin won’t be able to pass much of his agenda in the first two years and his general incompetence is already on display — a son who tried to commit voter fraud so obviously he doesn’t instill good values in his children; and the Republican legislation demanding Virgina schools teach about the debates between Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass just this week. There will be a series of these and attempted overreaches early that will turn voters against him quickly, especially if the virus situation worsens and he doesn’t deliver on his promises to slay the phantom menaces that were the straw man issues of his campaign. The backlash will be swift in two years.
I don't think you want to use a sins of the son argument.

Right??? A rich white man beat another rich rich man. Neither give a F about Virginia families. Both like most politicians are in it for themselves. They care about what benefits them and their rich pals. But keep fighting over BS. Fools.

If things get bad enough, we will move to Maryland. No need to stay in a shithole when they’re sanity just a few miles away.
Come join us in MoCo. It’s not perfect but we will never allow in a Trumpkin.

Montgomery County might be a better alternative for you. Housing prices are also cheaper because Maryland just can't attract companies like Amazon and has one middling state university and a bunch of red brick colleges and universities that train baristas.
Grew up in NOVA and gladly moved to MD when it came to buying our home and raising our children. Great schools, both private and public, diverse and open-minded population. Virginia has tried to leave the Confederate-loving, bumpkin identity behind, but it is obviously still there. But tell me more about those housing prices. Really, who would want to move into the Loudoun school district now?
