The problem is that the wages for difficult jobs like field labor and barn mucking pay the same as or less than sitting on your a$$ at the Wawa. Most choose the easy buck. And this in turn is because the fizzy corn syrup drink costs much less to produce than those green beans, apples, and tomatoes. Our entire food system is whacked -- we subsidize and protect pricing for the wrong products.

You really don't need to eat that much food. Really. If you drop #2 twice a day, you are eating too much already. If you drop #2 and it's alot at one sitting, you are eating toooo much.

Yes, food prices are going up. I am not worried about food though because I am a good cook (from scratch) as well as I have the set up at home to store food.
Grocery stores are hiring - get a part time job at one for a discount if you're that impacted.

It's not meant to be clever, it's meant to be serious. But I suspect most of the women complaining are SAHM's who really aren't that affected by "skyrocketing" grocery prices and just want something else to complain about.

I actually like Harris teeter and was unhappy they sold out to Kroger. In one of our last grocery orders they placed a help wanted ad for all sorts of *part time* positions that required skills, like baker or butcher etc... No wonder they can't find anyone to fill *part time* skilled positions. Who wants to work two jobs and not get any benefits?
