Flashing back to when, long before we had a kid, I'd come in from work earlier than DH and I'd sit down with a snack and watch "Wishbone" on PBS. Not animated but aimed at older elementary kids. who love to read. Adorable real dog imagines himself as characters in literature. It's a hoot, smart, funny, sweet, has a terrier wearing costumes, and I felt no shame watching it. I miss "Wishbone." Guess your DH and I are both weirdos to OP!

I agree. Anime is a world in and of itself just like videogames. I have a tween son who is into them and he is somewhat weird. As an adult it’s even more weird - reeks of escapism and social maladjustment

My sister's husband does this.

He is not very intelligent though, to be honest.

Is the woman you are discussing?

If she is, then it is just a quirk and not a sign that she would be unable to enjoy more intellectual entertainment as well (like a well done play or book, heck even a serious 60 minutes episode). All of those would be lost on my brother-in-law (who would, however, enjoy a Trump rally)
