I was thinking about getting an Omega. From a fashion standpoint, who gets a Rolex vs an Omega? Does one keep time better?
My DW got me an Omega several years ago. I like it a lot and wear it daily. Rolex has a bit more catchet than Omega. However, I really like the watch I have on an aesthetic level. It is an Aqua Terra. The thing I really like about it is that it’s not exclusively a dress watch or a sport watch, and it looks good pretty much whenever. Also, before the haters weigh in, it keeps good time. I sync it up to the NIST clock every month or so, but it is never wildly off.

It reminds me of the small Lexus SUV that you see older middle class people driving. It is kind of nice, appears classy, but it is not actually portraying what they hope it is portraying.

Try buying it second hand.

My dad wears his every day. He always has for as long as I can remember.
Your dad is old AF.

Lol! Like art .... yes, good comparison....
NP. I don't know about the art comparison but the Rolex I bought 20 years ago for $6,000 ago has doubled in value. Doesn't make me want to go buy another, but its definitely not a depreciating asset like cars/boats.

If you get one try to get a limited edition. The more rare the better. They hold their value due to being collectable. The average buyer of a Rolex has an income of $120k. I see them as a marker of upper middle class “you made it” .
