Brunswick, Boonsboro, or Point of Rocks. Plenty of Confederate flags there.

Any specific areas/counties? There are a lot of other things I really like about NoVa comparing to MoCo and VA vs MD in general.

Fairfax County has a lot of diversity with regards to politics (and people from all over the world and US). Plenty of people from both sides of the aisle and still neighborly.

I just wrote the above post about Fairfax County. Since it’s a large county, I’ll specify that I live in the town of Vienna. But really most of Fairfax has a very good mix of voters and people tend to not let politics get in the way of friendships.

Political diversity in the DC area?

Definitely Tacoma Park!

You’ve got regular dems, leftist dems, socialist dems, socialists, communists, anarchists and nihilists - all living together in disharmony!

Actually very curious about the answer to OP’s question too. This map could be helpful but why is the Virginia data not there? Is there information on voting in Virginia?

Virginia only reports early and absentee ballots at the county/city level. With so many people voting early/absentee in 2020, and the early/absentee votes leaning more D than the election day votes, there aren't useful precinct-level results available.

Try Great Falls VA, Darnestown and Potomac (River road area) in MD. Know of some R families in Chevy chase/close-in Bethesda. Country clubs and the private catholic schools have lots of conservative families.

I live in the Alexandria part of Fairfax. All of our elected officials are democrats, but there are a lot of military families who don't vote locally so the reality of the area is probably closer to a slight left skew.

You obviously do not live in lower cost areas of MoCo.

I really appreciate everyone's feedback and also thanks for keeping this thread (mostly) civilized. Lots of good advice, we will look into it. OP

But we live in bethesda and have friends who are Republicans. It’s fine so long as they aren’t Trump voters. Fiscal conservatives are fine and there’s lots of military folks who can be hawkish. But if you’re voting for Trumo because you don’t like Muslims or Mexicans or you think there are good people on both sides of a Nazi March or am armed invasion of Congress….then people aren’t going to want you at their backyard BBQ.

Thank you for summing this up, PP. Your post is exactly what we want to get away from. We vote for whatever reasons we have and don't feel obligated justifying those reasons, even to each other (although most of the times we do, but in a healthy respectful way) OP

I’d leave Montgomery County then. Agree with PP: not welcome at the summer BBQ’s in my MoCO neighborhood.

Please leave then. If you think being antisemitic, islamophobic, racist, misogynist, is fine , and Jan 6 was a false flag, then no, I don’t want to associate with any of you.

This is OP. Boy ya all made a lot of assumptions. None of us ever voted Trump (and I never mentioned him any of in my posts) but you decided to insult me just based on your assumptions anyways. Don't worry, your backyard BBQs is the LAST place I want to be.

I suggested Vienna and there were signs for Biden and signs for Trump in our neighborhood. No one ever asked me who I voted for and I didn’t ask anyone in the neighborhood. Most houses didn’t have a sign. I would have considered it rude if someone assumed I voted for any particular candidate and asked my reasons like that.

Vienna. A mix here. We are R and have lots of friends on both sides. No one seems to judge each other based upon political beliefs. More importantly, people have other interests and are able to talk primarily about other things besides politics so it’s not all consuming like some areas around here.
