What type of repairs are costing $2k per year? And for how many years have you be this? Maintenance is always expensive but age of the car is a wash for that. Maintenance should be done on every vehicle.

I’m the one with the 2001 Jeep. We also have a 2001 Jeep Cherokee, a 2004 Nissan and two cars that are less than 6 years old. Every few years we have brakes, which are maintenance, and recently had to change out a belt of some sort. But we don’t do anywhere near $2k in repairs per year on any of our vehicles.

Lol, not even close. We currently drive a 2009 Chevy which still runs but needs to be replaced (only 80k miles but it's just a crappy car and we're happy to be done with it). But until a few years ago I was still driving a 2001 Toyota that I'd never spent more than a couple grande on repairs for and ran perfectly. We sold it because we really didn't need two cars and it was the smaller car and we'd just had a baby.

But yeah, when we buy a new (to us) car later this year it's going to be exciting because there are so many features that are standard now that we've never had. I think we're going with a Subaru, either Outback or Forester. Woohoo!

I drive a 2007 Toyota Camry. I spent $0 in repairs last year.

Nope, we got you beat. We have a 1998. Yours isn't very old. I think our other one is a 2011. I forget.

I have a 2008 Mercury Mariner with 225,000 miles on it.

I always laugh when people pay 30 percent more for foreign cars.

I have a 2010 Mazda. Not anticipating getting rid of it any time soon, but have also set money aside for a new car should, this one start to have a lot of issues. It’s at the point where I’ll pay for maintenance and small repairs, but not worth the hassle for something big.
