I'm 5'7'' so probably don't belong here but the reason I am medium-tall is because my legs are very long, which creates similar issues as very tall women.

I naturally to IF because I am not hungry most mornings.
The only way I've been able to lose weight is to watch my portions (no seconds except for veggies) and be honest with myself about high calorie indulgences, and limit them: high calorie sauces, desserts, wine, etc...

I like wine and dessert and mayo or fried foods a lot, but try to limit myself to 1 a day (I don't always but it helps to be aware). I've also been swapping my sweet glass of red (200 calories!!!) for vodka soda (more like 45 calories) and have toned up and lost 5 lbs with regular hill walks. Hoping it holds through the holidays!

I’m the OP of this thread. Glad to see it’s still limping along. I’ve lost about five lbs since I posted, which isn’t much. But I feel good because I finally signed up for strength training, something I’ve meant to do for years. I do group training and it’s incredibly challenging and also amazing. I can’t really afford to do it indefinitely but I’m hoping to reach a point where I can keep it up on my own. I’m enjoying having muscles.

Thanks.

I’m 50, 5’10” an athletic build (college athlete) and feel good around 170-180.

Mostly aimed to eat well and be active through my early 40s…. But hurt my back in my mid-40s and fell off regular exercise then menopause and have gained weight and am currently 215 and it doesn’t feel good to my body and my pants don’t fit.

I’m trying to
eat better (I am more impulsive)
Get active again because my I don’t feel strong
Improve my core and posture

I’m glad!

How did you lose the weight?

Thank you! I did EMDR therapy for the trauma and CBT for binge eating. I didn't diet -- the CBT stopped the binge eating, and 60 lbs basically fell off me over the course of a year or two. Now to lose the remaining 30 lbs, I plan to up the veggies and walking. In my case, building healthy habits wasn't the problem -- freeing myself from bad coping habits was.

Congratulations to your continued health!!

I’d say 5’8” is the bottom range of tall from the perspective of a tall woman (I’m 5’11”). Anyone under 5’8” can generally buy clothes off the rack and they will fit.

FYI, not if you are short, they don't.

I have a friend who is 5'1 and she gets a ton of clothes from Gap kids.

They don't fit the same. I have a few kids clothing, but they really are cut differently.

They fit her great.
Swell.

I love this thread! I’m 5”10, 196 pounds (heaviest I’ve ever been) but as many of you mention, it’s hard to tell because of my height. I am really focused on my health and would love to get to my goal weight of 160. My plan is intermittent fasting, eating plant based meals 80% of the time and eating my heaviest meal mid-day. I am also working out 3x per week. I started on Monday and I feel good but know that with a demanding job and two kids it’s going to be tough. I appreciate reading all of your posts. It is really motivating to me. Good luck everyone!

Love this revival! I'm 5'10 and currently trying to lose the four months postpartum weight. My normal weight is 145, currently at 160. Struggling right now because running was my most reliable form of cardio pre-baby but I'm still in a bit of pain from recovering from my c-section. Hoping to focus on pilates, yoga, and low-impact cycling over the next few months to build up my core. Also have been in recovery from an eating disorder so things like intermittent fasting/cutting out whole food groups are a trigger for me that I want to avoid. Alas, slow and steady healthy food choices and patience will probably be the way to go for me! And I need to cut back on the desserts - couldn't resist my husband's suggestion to get a Chick-fil-a milkshake last night

Reviving the thread and wanting updates! I’m 5’11” and lost a few pounds. I’m at 177 now.

So do any of you run? I’ve always disliked it. My height makes it so inefficient. What is your preferred cardio exercise?

Hi ladies! I"m 5'10", and gained 30 lbs during this COVID era. I'm at 182lbs now and aiming to drop these 30 by the summer. (I typically was about 150-160 for most of my adult life, except during pregnancy.)

Bottom line is that I've been dipping into my kids' snacks on a regular basis... which was an unfortunate "new" habit I developed. I'm in a weight loss challenge at work right now, which is helping me stay committed to my old successful habits.

Anonymous wrote:Good day ladies! Another chance to eat healthy! It’s in the single digits and icy where I live and I am not motivated to get outside. I am looking forward to those long summer days when I can walk and walk and walk off all that cheese.

Speaking of cheese- what’s on the menu tonight?

I’m the pp who had a bunch of kids all through my 30’s and now have to watch what I eat. I’m the main cook for my kids/family but I did make a big gorgeous salad with chickpeas, feta, tomatoes, red onion and extra lemon. It was delicious and very satisfying. I’ve also been doing IF after reading about it here. The first few days were a little rough but now it’s fine and I feel skinnier. Because my kids eat dinner at 5 I’m able to go from 5pm to about noon. NOT INCLUDING COFEE
