I am astonished that anyone would be bothered by this. I am delighted to get a card no matter when it arrives. You are a mean person. Also, Christmas decorations come down in Jan 6th.

I don’t understand this at all. We receive plenty of cards in late Dec and even, sometimes, a few after Christmas. Why would the ones received on the 10th mean any more than those received later? It’s a thoughtful gesture from friends or family, why make it any more serious than that?


My point was none of them mean anything. They’re pointless whether you get them before Christmas or after. So if you’re not going to get them out by Christmas just let it go. Nobody will notice.

I also go to NY to see family most years and some cousins will be at Xmas with us and when I get back home to the DMV the card is there. Why mail it so late that you see me in person at Xmas before I get the card? I get folks are busy we all been there. But I had one person mail literally a card that is a Christmas card I get it after Xmas every year the last 30 years!! I usually have taken down cards by then so awkward.

One year my wife and I had a lot of things going on Illness, death of my mother and paired down list and did not mail the late people as we assumed only sending us a card since we sent one to them. Guess what they still came. Usually day after Xmas.

Why do they do it? Two are now literally empty nesters and retired. So they have time.

It’s just laziness, procrastination, ADHD, etc. The only reason the cards get sent at all is that all the cards that have arrived from others finally create enough guilt to force action.

Thank you!!! BTW back in the day my wife had a 13 hour a day job before we met in banking. She told me she had her address book in purse. She had a box of cards and stamps at work and at lunch or in train she wrote out a few each day. I did the same when single. Funny part when busy like I was doing MBA and working I wrote a few out in short spurts.

And yes the most important ones first. Mom, boss, Girlfriend etc. Less important got mailed later.

😂 This is truly hilarious. Passive-aggressive?? Really???

We’re busy.
We don’t plan well.
We can’t find a photo or card we love.
We’re indecisive and can’t quite bring ourselves to finalize things and place an order.
Our address list is not up to date.
Our address list is not in the right format for the vendor we’re using this year.
We forgot to get stamps.

Seriously, it could be any (or all) of these things in our house on any given year.

Which is why we always send HAPPY NEW YEAR cards. We buy ourselves an extra week (and figure they’re good for at least a week or two into January.)

I don't even send cards! Why? I am too lazy!

I do enjoy getting them so much that I think maybe next year I should start sending them.

But honestly you have too much time on your hands if you are worried about the exact timing. If the cards come before MLK day, I love it.

You do know that some people celebrate the whole 12 days of Christmas? Also, you seem pretty petty and judgy person. Who cares if you get a Christmas card "late" Because if you really celebrate you know it doesn't end on the 25th. Just saying. Also, empty nesters could have things going on or maybe it is a health thing? I hope all the late senders don't send you any this year.

Christmas cards are for Christmas on December 25

If your birthday were on July 15, would you expect birthday cards on July 8?


Christmas is not a day, it's a season. Dec. 24 - Jan. 6. Your ignorance of this fact is not something to advertise.
