Schools do close for flu outbreaks.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I know I will get a lot of hate for this but I hope other parents will join me in asking the school board to implement widespread testing to return to school on 1/3. Everyone is going to get COVID. Everyone (if they haven't already had it; estimates are 50% of people already have)! You are wanting Zero COVID, including in schools - neither of them will ever happen.
COVID for vaccinated people or unvaccinated kids is a cold. We don't shut down schools over colds or test everyone for other viruses.
Hopefully Youngkin ends quarantines for close contacts.
Vaccinated or not, everyone is likely to get COVID-19 at some point, many experts say

People keep posting this stupid argument. It still sucks to get covid. On top of having to quarantine, many adults have really yucky flu like symptoms for a solid two weeks. "Mild" covid in clinical trial terms is covid that doesn't result in a trip to the hospital, it doesn't mean just mild cold symptoms. You may very well feel like death warmed over.
And while everyone may eventually get covid, everyone is not going to get every variant. It's worth trying to stay healthy to catch it fewer times. Getting it once doesn't mean you won't catch the next variant 6-12 months later and be sick all over again.
So now you are saying it is like the flu. People can get really sick for a week maybe even two and that can happen even if they get a flu shot. And the. every year there are variants. And some people get more sick from the flu because it turns into pneumonia. ( which btw is what can happen with covid, the person has covid and just feels crappy the. it turns into pneumonia)
Interesting argument you are making.
Okay - let's do flu protocols, which includes no closing schools or other bs restrictions. That's the future anyway so we might as well skip to it now.

Under state law we won’t see entire districts like these close.
Doing virtual for the two weeks after break is not closing.
I think we might see virtual for a week or two in January.

I don't know one previously infected person (I at least know 100, including myself) who had symptomatic COVID a second time, except an elderly person who was in really poor health to begin with.
I don't like getting a cold at all either, but it's a fact of life right now. We never shut down society to stop us from getting a cold, and we never shut down school for that.
