My church teaches that homosexuality is not a sin but homosexual acts are. So I would explain that gently and lovingly to my child. She wants to be a nun so it's not like she'd be giving up anything she's not already planning to give up.

That's just part of what churches are. Their main role is to provide the sacraments to the faithful and pass down (and correctly interpret) the faith of the apostles.

Child over church, but then again I support gay people 100% and so does our church. Our child is straight, but a few years ago our congregation brought this to a vote whether we were or weren't accepting of gay persons (we are a mainline congregation, but independent of an overseeing authority). Anyway, the vote passed as we hoped. If it hadn't, we had had conversations about whether we could stay or not, and I don't think we would have.

And this is also like a family to us. But even with our dc not gay, we would have moved on.

yes in this part of the Bible they are talking to the Jews, the chosen ones, about how to live their life. Leviticus also says not to eat shrimp and pork but I don’t see anyone up in arms about that. It’s literally the same section of the Bible.

Yep. Jesus made a point of saying his followers didn’t need to follow all the older rules, mostly they just need to love each other and love God.

Episcopalians for sure. Some Presbyterian (I think they’re called “Bright light” congregations?) and Methodist denominations as well. There may be more, this isn’t something I’ve researched intensively, but I know these for sure.

If you are funding an organization that is against your kid, you are going against your kid also. You can't say 'our church condemns you' but we are not on their side of the fence, except on Sundays.

Look. I’m not part of this organization, but my understanding is that the members don’t condemn anyone. They believe that God condemns people. To them, saying that homosexuality isn’t a sin because you love your child makes you sound like a climate change denier. Like you believe that you can change reality if you stick your fingers in your ears and hope that it isn’t true.
