I have friends who have South Beach in Miami as their main residence and a couple places in VA because the husband does business here. They live in FL 4 months during the winter and then also fly there whenever bad weather is predicted in the DC area (the husband hates rain, so they leave when it will be rainy). That makes them FL residents by virtue of being there 6 months and 1 day per year.
