We have a golden and two cavaliers. They are all incredibly sweet. The golden is sweet, quiet, and gentle with our children and anyone that comes to the house. The cavaliers are sweet and gentle to our immediate family but bark at strangers and have to be introduced to company.

Hands down...any Golden breed..(unless a rescue.) you can tug their tail while you play with their food and they will at most bark slightly..

I know a dangerously aggressive example of each breed. One was an Amish product, food aggressive & possible brain issue later in life. The other, don't know where they got him but reactive to everyone & caused a puncture wound with complications. That said I also know a sweetheart example of each breed. Find an excellent breeder and wait for availability!

I am impressed you managed to know an aggressive Beagle. I didn’t know they existed! They are SO SWEET as a breed.

Well I don't suppose Amish puppy farming makes a great distinction in these matters. I think there was a neurological issue that eventually won out.

I am not sure I have ever met a purpose-bred Beagle. Mine is an obviously beagle-heavy “WV road hound”, got a puppy from a stray who showed up at a friend’s. Could not ask for a better temperament.

Beagles are sadly used for lots of medical testing because they tolerate everything. Obviously not highly-bred show animals. This was recently in the news because of some experiments under Dr. Fauci’s watch. but it does say a lot about how tolerant they are.

I just spent a week with a cavalier and that was the most chill p, snuggly dog I have ever met, so sweet and friendly. I wanted to take him home.

My cavy likes to cuddle sure. But as we speak my husband is getting him to come inside as he tends to bark at our neighbors. YMMV

They can get snappy when they get older if they have bad joint problems
