I deeply don’t.

I did. Now the college cuts checks to me.

Congrats on the new job!

It’s called scholarship

Oh really? So is it guaranteed for 4 years and is it more vs all the money you spent?

1. The athletic portion is guaranteed for 4 years unless kicked off or quit
2. The savings is over what I paid for youth travel

BS it's not guaranteed and it's not close to what you paid

Why would I lie? For clout on an anonymous forum?

I’ve paid about 60,000 in all for ECNL. My kid goes to an out of state school on a four year guaranteed athletic scholarship that covers the majority of the cost. The remaining cost is covered by academic money that is not guaranteed. Its 100 percent paid for. The cost to earn a degree from this school is about 200,000 for out of state kids….and over 100,000 for in state kids.

Either way…..

Because it is not the norm at all. Athletic money is rarely guaranteed for all four years. Terrific if your kid is the unicorn that received this kind of package but it is not what 95% of student athletes can expect to receive. This is not the payoff that someone should expect if they are putting 60k into ECNL so stop selling it as if it is common reality.

What about playing because they love the sport and it prepares them for adulthood?

"Prepares them for adulthood"!!!!!! That's a laugh - not if they watch their parents on the sidelines, it doesn't.

Are you not a parent on the sideline?

Gotta ask - why are you on here posting and going back and forth with everyone? Sounds like you won the soccer lottery. I would think you'd have better things to do?

everyone made the team.

they couldn't even fill there u13 roster and had to add a bunch of u12s. Plus they are doing ID sessions now for ECNL because they are losing more kids.

Many clubs are doing ID Session now for ECNL. VDA did, Loudoun did. Bryc is a small club with small pools or no pool. Why blame them for trying to gain more players. It's hard to compete for players with so many large ECNL/merged clubs nearby. They are doing the same as other clubs. They need U13's the most.

they could retain kids if there littles coaching staff was better. many ECNL teams have former BRYC players who got tired of the coaches ego.

Based on the above link it isn't iron clad and coaches can get out of it for many of the reasons previously mentioned.

Players without the four year guarantee can get the same treatment by continuing to earn the scholarship. So, yes, assuming the players perform as expected both academically and within the sport they should have no real concern for losing a scholarship in any event. But it is still merit based and can go away.

Yea - but it’s makes it much harder to take away - it a was implemented to protect kids which is good.

The athletic portion is NOT guaranteed! I know this for a fact. It is based on year by year. Coaches revue and decide if your daughter is doing her part for the team. Don’t worry. You’ll still be able to drive your Range Rover and Audi.

Okay. It’s not guaranteed. You know better than me you clown.

No coach puts themselves in that position. Sorry, but they could have been wrong on your kid, or a better player comes along or the worse case a seas or career ending injury comes along. I'm pretty sure the coach has several options to get out of such an arrangement.

Certainly, as long as your kid performs, stays healthy and gets the necessary grades she'll likely be fine but the word "guaranteed" is a pretty strong word and while it may have been the coaches sentiment it likely is not really written anywhere.

Okay - let’s unpack this for the benefit of the readers. Let’s start with you base of knowledge to provide an educate opinion

Playing for the love of the sport has nothing to do with what I said.
