That's fine. That's pretty sad for kids you don't allow them to have gifts.

You donating to charity is special for you, not to a child.

Lol we hosted a no gifts party with probably 12 guests and every. Single. One. Brought a gift. So honestly that was the last time we’ll do that!

I think kids still like a personal card from their friend, though. At least my kids do.

Uh: no gifts + gift TABLE?? Talk about mixed messages.

We bring a small gift to no gift party, like a book or something after years of being the sole no gift rule follower and our child feeling embarrassed.

Op here. Maybe pp and I attended the same party.

My kid will still do a homemade card but nothing taped inside.

If you do this, at least buy locally and include a gift receipt.

If a parent specifies that they do not want their child to receive birthday gifts at their party, then they likely are saying that their child already has enough toys at home & they do not have the space to accommodate any more.

Personally I think it would be rude to go against the host’s wishes + arrive bearing gifts.

We had a party at a venue we metro’ed to so bringing home the gifts was an awful burden. My 4 year old had enough stuff already too.

Displaying gifts and opening them at a party so everyone can ooh and ahh and the kids measure the gifts against each other is tacky AF. It’s over. Let’s not do it anymore.

I have gone to a couple of these, and I was among a few who brought only cards. And the idiot parents put the gifts on display on a table. I felt embarrased. Never again!

Op here. We made a card and did not take a gift.

However, there was a gift table and a lot of gifts at the party. The birthday boy was very excited to see the gifts and wanted to open them. The mom said he had to wait until later.

So why would they say "no gifts" and then have a gift table?

These "no gift parties" are so rude.
