Anonymous wrote:DC once was invited to a preschool classmate’s no gift birthday party, the host really don’t need anymore toy for their kid - the whole house is full of toys already. We just have DC make a card for the birthday kid, and donated to a non profit and typed the birthday kid’s name and printout for the kid. We thought it would be special for kids that have everything they want and need already.

I admit that I still feel a little weird, but I have to assume the parents are telling the truth and don't want guests to bring gifts.
I think kids still like a personal card from their friend, though. At least my kids do.
Uh: no gifts + gift TABLE?? Talk about mixed messages.
We bring a small gift to no gift party, like a book or something after years of being the sole no gift rule follower and our child feeling embarrassed.

I have gone to a couple of these, and I was among a few who brought only cards. And the idiot parents put the gifts on display on a table. I felt embarrased. Never again!
Op here. We made a card and did not take a gift.
However, there was a gift table and a lot of gifts at the party. The birthday boy was very excited to see the gifts and wanted to open them. The mom said he had to wait until later.
