YA movies but hear me out. Knowing nothing of the movies or actors, so expectations very low: I watched all 5 or 6 Twilight movies (as if they were a series) when they came out recently on Netflix. Teens and vampire are not at all my thing — but I couldn’t help but fall in love with the Cullens.

I wish I had the time to binge some of these abs catch up. Always wanted to watch Friday night lights. And parenthood.

Anonymous wrote:OP, heartwarming is such an individual thing and like trying to catch lightning in a bottle. What has worked for me:

"Parks and Recreation" (keep watching, it gets better after season one when some characters change). Really sweet friendships and romances.

For me, a very heartwarming show though it might not seem like it is "Psych." Comes on as a goofy motormouthed annoying man-boy show but over time and close watching, there are a lot of devoted relationships and one of the best (though very underrated!) non-romantic, female-male partnerships/mentorships/friendships on TV. Takes time to get there (and again, keep watching, things grow a lot after season one, and the pilot is one of the least good episodes-it's not bad! but just skip to episode 2).

YES! Psych is such a good recommendation. The friendship between Gus and Shawn is so lovely and great, and I love seeing Shawn and his dad's relationship develop. I am mixed on the romantic relationships.

Parks and Rec, too. Skip season 1.

When people recommend this, I always have to add Episodes. They gave me similar vibes with Episodes older actors and more work place oriented. Both better than expected.

In a million years I would never describe You're The Worst as heartwarming! I actually couldn't even get through that show because I found it so cynical and mean. What am I missing?!

Modern Family is surprisingly heartwarming, I think. When it was running, I thought it was cheesy and not very funny. But I ended up binging the whole series during pandemic and I found myself bizarrely taken in by the families and their stories. Maybe that was just my pandemic brain...

And yeah Schitt's Creek 4 life

Mostly fun. Now I want to watch it again.

I found the family completely insufferable and felt sorry for the islanders who had to put up with them. I only watched 3 episodes, maybe the plot is they become better people? What am I missing about this show?

Agreed. Loved both of those shows (and I resisted watching both because I judged them by their Netflix “cover”).

I’ve tried both of these more than once and can’t seem to get past 2-3 episodes. Don’t know if I should stick with it or give up (again).

Same reaction to Last Tango. Slowly made my way to Episode 4…. Should I give up?

I've also been resistant to watch this, mainly because I loved the old 80s miniseries so much, but maybe I should give it a try!

The Good Place comes to mind, I totally bawled during the series finale.

I loved loved the OG Anne of Green Gables miniseries. But I also really liked Anne with an E. There were a few dud episodes (I think it’s the first few of season 2 that are just weird) but then it gets good again. It’s very different from the miniseries, which helps.

I also think Jane the Virgin, Never Have I Ever, and Parenthood are great suggestions for OP.
