I had this happen at Club Med Cancun. Sick with Montezuma’s revenge for three days out of a week. Most of our group also got sick during this time. Decided to stick with Virgin Islands and Hawaii after that.
Club Med is far from luxury.

When I first read about this attack, I was confused. If the beaches have crocodiles, why did the hotel build there? Where are the tourists supposed to swim? This, to me, is different from crocs remaining in a lake or lagoon.
AGAIN there are clear warning signs not to go on beach at night for this very reason. She ignored signs. Can’t change stupid.
These people aren’t getting randomly attacked. They are doing dumb S and paying the consequences.

Ever been to St Regis Punta Mita? Is that fake luxury. While not best hotel in the world, I think it fall in Luxury Category.

99% of the time people that get attacked by gators/crocs in SC/FL/Mexico etc. are doing something really dumb or blatantly ignoring warnings (which is also dumb).
Then people get on sites like this and act like it is some great tragedy. And places should be blackballed or people shouldn't visit because of other peoples stupidity.

Florida has alligators and, in south Florida, crocodiles. You learn never to swim in fresh water (unless it’s cold spring water). And you don’t walk near any body of fresh water no matter how shallow. We back up to the golf course. We had a large gator in the water hazard. He loved the fountain. We always check the pool before swimming even though it’s completely enclosed.
This is a tragic story. But it happens in Florida as well.
Lol I had friends who would swim at night in golf course ponds and lagoons to get golf balls. There were some really big gators in those ponds and they never had problems. When they do have problems it’s because people think it’s cool to feed them. As soon as these animal association food with human they track you.
Just because your friends got lucky doesn’t mean that you should be swimming in any area known to be inhabited by alligators, much less at night!
