Why would anyone want to be a cop in DC.
Because it's a freeloading gig, only requires h.s. diploma, and you can easily milk overtime and make over $100,000 if not $150,000 a year and then retire with a full pension & platinum health care for life in your 50s? People grossly exaggerate the danger of being a cop. And no cop is in some violent ghetto for decades, at most you do that crap when you're a rookie for a year or two, then you job hop to a freeloading desk job or out to the cozy suburbs.

Seen it multiple times. Do we have a local police force?
This is a cultural thing. You need to stop judging and deal with it.
You need to stop defending people who put lives in danger.
Can anyone elaborate on the bolded part please?
Young black guys embrace the concept of personal freedom more than other demographic groups.
Good for them.

Are you being sarcastic? It’s freaking dangerous.
Can you link an article about an accident?

Safe street designs don’t work if people don’t follow the laws. Inanimate structures can’t protect against willful violators. So we need both. Speeders should suffer corporal punishment too.

Don’t we have - through all the various agencies - more police officers per capita than any city in the world, yet you want to start with false prioritizations? How about we get every dimes worth across all dimes spent and fix everything. I would rather shoot for perfection and “fail” at excellence than start off with excuses and end up with terrible.
Focusing on THE FACTORS THAT ACTUALLY KILL PEOPLE is a "false prioritization"?

If you focus on ALL the things that could kill people you would be in a much better place. You seem to want to let certain things slide but I do not want to wait for another death or serious injury to react. In fact, it would probably be best to have the police focus on ALL moving vehicle violations to achieve the optimal across the board outcome. If they are looking for cars, they can also be looking at other vehicles. Watching one reckless and dangerous thing and excusing it while pursuing some other, makes no sense. ALL threats. ALL the time.
Let's start with the biggest problems.
This is a false prioritization. Let’s make sure everyone is safe. We have the means.
Yes. First we'll start with slow streets, raised crosswalks, wider sidewalks, protected bike lanes, curb bump-outs, bus-only lanes, red light cameras, speed cameras, etc. all over the city. We even could give the program a catchy name, like maybe because we have a vision of a DC where everyone is safe and there are zero traffic deaths, we could call it Vision Zero. When we've done all that, we'll assess to find out what still remains to be done.
- and why do we need motorcycle safety laws at all?
A person might wonder why, for you, it's a higher priority to enforce motorcycle laws against some people than to design streets that are safe for everyone.

It pretty much means that if you are black and poor in the city you have carte blanche to terrorize other tax paying citizens and the inept mayor will do nothing about it. It is the reason police are leaving the city in droves, why bother?
Okay? More like it’s a traditional and recognition that there are limited avenues for kids to have fun in ways that are not over regulated and literally policed. While certainly it’s illegal and a public safety hazard the determination is that they are going to keep allowing the kids to express themselves and do it until someone gets seriously hurt.
