how many of the ecnl coaches are actually good at developing players versus simply recruiting
This is the golden question. I think there are some coaches that are better than others at developing tactics but I don't know if ECNL coaches spend much time at personal or technical development. Its like enrolling in an advanced writing class and expecting the teacher to train you on proper grammar. The reality is that you are expected to have that base before you take the class. The sign of a good coach is if he has trained a player from a young age and that player is recognized by next-level coaches (DI, YNT scouts, Pro-scouts). I know that Pipeline has two players invited to the YNT camp and both trained under their current coach since u9. That is the only example I know of where a coach has been working with a younger player from the beginning. The coaches at McLean and MUFC have a great track-record of teaching tactics but the players they get usually come in at u15/u16.

but only when they were ECNL. When they went DA - they lost a lot who wanted to play HS. Now that they are GA and have spent one year seeing the light, they will leave. GA is not a worthwhile league, recruiting is more complicated now with covid and new rules, the kids will have to make the most of their opportunities and GA is not it! Factor in the Pup and kids will realize the turf is much greener elsewhere.

Some to VDA and BRYC.
Loudoun kids will hold steady

Imagine being in a 2nd tier league w shitty coaches. That ECNL grass is looking pretty green. Top coaches will also follow the talent and where the landscape is going.
Riiiiiiight. Loudoun coaching is garbage. And they somehow keep latching to that ECNL patch.
Cushy jobs and licenses from 20 years ago isn’t a good recipe. Might I add that the actual individuals are mediocre to begin with anyway
